Vivian Broughton is the Director of the Centre, and Director of Training.
Vivian is a Gestalt psychotherapist, having completed seven years of psychotherapy training in 1992 at The Metanoia Institute in London. She has been in private psychotherapy practice since 1989, working with individuals and groups, as a supervisor since 1989. She co-ran therapy groups from 1990-1999 in Sheffield and subsequently, Bath, Somerset.
She first encountered Bert Hellinger's Family Constellations work in 1995, and after meeting Dr Albrecht Mahr (an original colleague of Hellinger's) in 1998, she invited him to the UK to teach Systemic Constellations. She ran a formal training in Systemic Constellations, initially in collaboration with Albrecht Mahr, and subsequently on her own from 2000 until 2011, by which time she had moved completely to working with the trauma theories of Professor Franz Ruppert.
Vivian met Franz Ruppert in 2004 and was sufficiently impressed to invite him to the UK to teach his work. Subsequently she organised regular twice-yearly seminars for him in the UK between 2005 and 2016. Since 2011 Vivian's work has been entirely aligned to Ruppert's theories and practice, and she continues to study with him at every opportunity.
She organised the translation into English, and edited these translations, for all of Ruppert's books to date. Ruppert's English language books are published by Green Balloon Publishing, which Vivian founded in partnership with John Mitchell, who now manages the day to day work of the publishing company.
Vivian has published three books of her own, one on Family Constellations (In the Presence of Many), and two on IoPT work entitled The Heart of Things: Understanding Trauma - Working with Constellations, and Becoming Your True Self: a Handbook for the Journey from Trauma to Healthy Autonomy. This last has been updated in 2014, 2016 and 2017. It has also been published in Dutch, German and Russian.
In addition Vivian has posted regular blog pieces on her website on a variety of topics connected with her work.
In 2017 Vivian decided to establish the Centre for Healthy Autonomy in London providing a physical home for her work with Identity-oriented Psychotrauma Therapy.
